Hike #6: Oyster Dome
January 19, 2015
Mileage: 6.5 roundtrip
Elevation Gain: 1900 ft.
Three day weekends are the best. The day after the (amazing, spectacular, very surprising, slightly confusing) Seahawks win, I was ready for some celebratory sunshine. We got lucky and it was quite clear as we reached the trail head and headed upwards.
The light was lovely, as always, through the trees. At the first viewpoint we were able to get some good views of the coastline and the islands beyond.
The puppy found a few nice streams to play in.
And I found some more adorable mushrooms.
At the top it was cloudy and a bit cold but still pretty spectacular.
I loved the expanse of trees at the bottom of this cliff. The chasm in the rock below made it even more fascinating.
I think Ida enjoyed the views too.
I’d like to go back on a sunny day, but the cloud cover made for some incredible shots.
After a little rambling around the top we headed back toward the car.
All in all a lovely day hike with impressive views, worth the occasionally steep climb.
