Wrocław, Poland
Travel Dates: April 22 – 24, 2015
Wrocław was the second stop on our trip and was very lovely. A place I’d never really considered visiting before this year, but I’m so glad we chose it. We spent two full days and a morning and found it was perfect.
One of our first stops was the University of Wrocław Botanical Gardens. I loved the Cactus House and the Ivy Collection.
We had excellent pierogi at Pierogarnia, right in the main square.
We climbed the church tower of the Garrison Church of St. Elizabeth (Kościół Garnizonowy pw. Św. Elżbiety) and got some great views of the city.
Another favorite church of mine was the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Cathedral Island.
Above is the street with the Cathedral today. Below is a historic photo of the street in 1945. The photo was posted along with some other signage on the bridge leading to the island.
We also climbed the Church tower – the landing has a very interesting little exhibit of African masks – and then took an elevator to the top.
We also caught the very end of a mass at the Jesuit Church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus. The ultimate in Baroque design.
Other favorites included dinner at Happy Little Truck Pizza. The food truck is attached to the back of Marynka Piwo i Aperitivo, and we paid for our pizza at the window and ordered drinks at the bar.
And of course enjoying some chocolate desserts at Czekolady E.Wedel in the main square.
Wrocław is incredibly bright and colorful, and we really enjoyed our time there.
Next stop, Dresden!
Wroclaw is an amazing city indeed! We visited the city in May and enjoyed every minute! I’m sure you’ll also love Dresden 🙂
