Hike #30: Olympic National Park Weekend
July 17-19, 2015
Mileage: 5-6 total, including Sol Duc Falls, Rialto Beach, and the Hall of Mosses trail
Elevation Gain: ?
A few weeks ago my parents were in town, and I decided to take them and Eric on a mini-adventure to the Olympic Peninsula. Throughout the weekend we drove the entire way around the Peninsula, and saw so many of the great sites the park has to offer.
A little bit of rain forest, a little bit of coast, a lot of good food, and wonderful family time. We had amazing weather and spent much of our days meandering through forest or across the beach, or driving along some of the most scenic routes imaginable. We hiked the Sol Duc Falls trail, traipsed at least a couple of miles across Rialto Beach and back, and explored the short Hall of Mosses trail in the Hoh Rain Forest. Such a wonderful weekend.
What beautiful sights you were able to capture! My husband and I are heading here at the end of March, hoping the rain will hold off long enough for us to hike around and take gorgeous pictures like these.
Thank you! I hope you get some sunshine as well, though it’s still pretty incredible in fog and rain. Have you been to the park before? Any favorite spots?
We have never been to the Olympic Peninsula despite having lived in WA most of our lives! We’ll be staying near Rialto Beach and plan to hike all around there. I’d like to hit up Sol Duc Falls trail as well.
