Hike #31: Reflection Lakes & Mt. Rainier Wildflowers
August 8, 2015
Mileage: ~6 roundtrip
Elevation Gain: ~2000 ft
MeadoWatch wildflower hike, take two. Not many flowers this time – everything had peaked already. But we collected our data and still very much enjoyed the landscape. We even caught a few glimpses of the shy Mountain, though it hid behind clouds most of the day.
After we reached the last marker we went a bit further, into a pretty desolate landscape. Harsh, rocky, wild mountainside. But incredibly interesting and starkly beautiful.
On our way back we saw several grouse, our only wildlife sighting of the day.
That evening we camped at Rainier, cooked a wonderful dinner, and generally decompressed from our weeks. What a marvelous weekend with friends.
