Hike #32: Comet Falls
August 9, 2015
Mileage: 3.8 roundtrip
Elevation Gain: 900 ft.
Sunday morning after breaking camp we opted for a short hike at Rainier before heading back home. We picked Comet Falls, and it was a great choice.
The trail crossed a bridge over Van Trump Creek early on and followed the creek canyon uphill until we crossed it very near where it split into two creeks, just beyond which were two sets of falls.
The falls on Van Trump Creek weren’t identified on the map, but were really lovely, with lots of mist rising off of them. And just over that creek and up the second one a bit were glorious views of the trail’s namesake waterfall
