Hike #40: Lime Kiln Trail
October 10, 2015
Mileage: About 4.5 roundtrip
Elevation Gain: 600 ft.
We suspected it would be raining, so we stayed relatively close to home and chose to check out the Lime Kiln Trail.
The first mile or so was fairly dry, through soft forest with all the greenery of the northwest, and lots of bigleaf maples shedding their oversized foliage.
As we broke out into the wider path after the forest, the rain got heavier, and by the time we reached the part of the trail alongside the river, it was a full-on downpour. So after about another mile, we turned around and headed back to the car.
Although we didn’t get to the kiln, we saw so many neat mushrooms along the trail. Definitely worth another shot on a dry day!
