Hike #42: Talapus and Olallie Lakes
October 17, 2015
Mileage: 6.2 roundtrip
Elevation Gain: 1220 ft.
Again we expected rain, and so stayed close to home, only about an hour away in Snoqualmie Pass. But instead we were blissfully rewarded with perfect weather – sunny and fairly warm, perfect for hiking.
The beginning of the trail was lovely and wide, and the whole trail was very well-maintained and especially nice in the dry weather.
On the way up we pushed all the way to Olallie Lake, where we paused for a snack break at the water’s edge. The water was very still, and we enjoyed the sunshine for a bit beside the wonderfully mossy trees.
We stopped at Talapus Lake on our way back down. Another perfectly quiet wilderness lake.
And as is becoming the norm for these fall hikes, we spotted a multitude of mushrooms! Clare and I decided we really need to take a look at a mushroom guide so we can identify some of the many that we’ve seen recently.
Definitely a wonderful jaunt on what is sure to be a rare sunny weekend day for this autumn. So glad to have spent it on the trail and soaking up the fresh air!
